Meet Nova; Essential & Harvest's Unicorn in the Bristol Unicornfest 2023

18/07/2023

Here at Essential, we are delighted to be involved in Bristol's Unicornfest 2023.

Our Unicorn

Our role in the trail is an exciting one. We have sponsored a unicorn; her name is Nova and she has been decorated to reflect the elements of organic and whole foods we sell at Essential. We think Nova looks majestic opposite our Harvest shop on Gloucester Road in Bristol, where you'll be able to meet her until mid-September.

Nova was designed by artist, Talora Welsh. You can see a great video of Talora painting Nova on her Instagram feed: @talora_welshdesign

Get a free Unicorn Gift from Harvest

The trail is a gift that keeps on giving because there is a lovely present awaiting anyone who visits Nova and then spends £10 at the Harvest shop.

To receive a PLAYin Choc Toy and chocolate box, just scan Nova on your UnicornFest app (download for Apple / download for Android) and then spend £10 in Harvest on any item(s), maybe vegan, organic, or vegetarian produce for home cooking, or a lovely hot drink or treat from the deli counter. For full details, visit the Harvest website:

More about UnicornFest?

Following on from the legacy of previous sculpture trails such as Gromit Unleashed and Wow! Gorillas, this exhibition of positivity has been a hit so far with the local community, and the success is emphasised by the great cause it is raising money for. The art trail has been organised with Leukaemia Care to raise money and awareness for the condition, and they aim to simultaneously "celebrate Bristol's unique heritage" and "lift spirits".

The trail has many interesting layers to engage Bristol residents and visitors, such as the beautiful decorations on each unicorn, which have been brought to us by local artists. Furthermore, as well as the 60 unicorns, there are also 40 foals, which have been collectively titled a "mini blessing". The foals have been decorated by schools, colleges, nurseries, and community groups and are rarer to discover, making them ideal for avid followers of the trail. The trail runs from the beginning of July until September, culminating in a charity auction.

Although you are free to simply observe the beauty of each unicorn, you can get more involved in the trail by downloading the Unicorn Fest App! By using the app you can collect the unicorns you have visited, and fill out the sticker book! Follow the links to take part:

Positive Impact

We are happy to be a part of this inspiring exhibition. The positive impact on the community is something we admire and similarly try to cultivate within Essential. We are overjoyed that the benefit to Leukaemia Care can be funded by a trail so entertaining and enriching, and we can't wait to see how much is raised for Leukaemia Care in the charity auction immediately following the trail.
