Bristol Local Food Fund Launches

Date Published: 29-10-2021

1 in 20 homes in Bristol can’t access enough good quality food to stay healthy and the problem is growing rapidly this winter.  Community food projects are working to tackle food insecurity in areas facing the greatest disadvantages but they need funding and support to continue their work.

Bristol Local Food Fund is a new fund for community food projects that are tackling food insecurity in our city. Working in partnership with Bristol City Council, Feeding Bristol, Bristol City Fund led by Quartet Community Foundation and Bristol Food Network, BLFF are running a £100,000 Crowdfunder campaign and asking everyone in Bristol to help communities fight food insecurity, together.

The Crowdfunder has now launched - will you join the campaign to build a fairer food system?

Bristol has an amazing food and drink culture, but many struggle to access enough food to eat.  There are so many brilliant community food projects in Bristol tackling food insecurity but they need funding and support.

Bristol Local Food Fund is working with the most disadvantaged and helping to build a fairer food system in our city.  Devised by campaigner Michael Lloyd-Jones and his like-minded team, the Fund will prioritise people and communities that are most in need, giving access to good quality, affordable and culturally appropriate food.  Funds will be allocated by a Citizens Panel, made up of local people with experience of food insecurity.

The goal is to raise £100,000 by November 30th 2021 with the Crowdfunder campaign, and Essential are delighted to help a wonderful cause for those in need. Let’s come together as one city to build a fairer food system.  Watch the video here
