Shipton Mill’s Traditional White Bread Flour is a gold-standard staple for home bakers and professional artisans alike. Milled in the heart of the Cotswolds, this flour is crafted from organic hard wheat, selected specifically for its high protein content. This strength is crucial for developing a robust gluten network, which allows the dough to trap carbon dioxide efficiently, resulting in a reliable, airy rise and a satisfyingly chewy crust.
The flour is unbleached and free from synthetic improvers, preserving the natural creamy color and subtle, wheaty aroma that sets high-quality organic flour apart from mass-produced varieties. Its "traditional" designation refers to the careful balance of milling—fine enough for a smooth texture, yet strong enough to handle long fermentation periods, making it the ideal choice for sourdoughs, tinned loaves, and ciabattas.
Shipton Mill is a pioneer in sustainable milling, with their historic site in Gloucestershire serving as a beacon for organic excellence. By choosing this Soil Association-certified flour, you are supporting farming methods that enhance soil fertility and avoid toxic chemical runoff. This 1kg bag is the perfect size for maintaining a fresh supply of high-performance flour in your kitchen, ensuring that every bake has the foundation it needs to succeed.
